Exploring Session Length and Player Risk

Focal Research and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas International Gaming Institute (IGI) explored the relationship between risk of gambling-related harm and the length of EGM play sessions using real-world player data.

Developing the Affordability Index

Identifying overspenders has become a priority for operators but poses several challenges as affordable limits vary strongly between players. Focal developed effective algorithms and profiles for accurately detecting and assisting at-risk 'Overspenders'.

Evaluating Safer Gambling Interactions

Data gathered during the 2019 UK Casino Trial of the ALeRT BETTOR Protection System was used to assess the impact of safer gambling interactions by UK casino staff in reducing behaviours associated with customer risk for gambling problems.

Identifying Gambling Risk Factors for Youth

Focal conducted a series of separate surveys with adolescents aged 13-18 years and a parent within the same household to explore risk factors and environmental influences that contributed to the development of gambling-related harm.
